Artist Statement

As a multidisciplinary artist, I strive to create works spanning many dimensions of art that are both haunting and alluring. By bridging my vision with the audience’s imagination, I aspire to encourage emotions that transcend the canvas and speak to a universal shared human experience. With preferred mediums including colored pencil, gouache, acrylic, screenprint, and soft soldering. My practice leads me to visualize nostalgia and evoke a sense of reminiscing in each viewer. We as humans cannot be sheltered forever, and this realization is freeing in nature. I believe my art now contains an “open to interpretation” quality, allowing any personal emotional baggage to find connection within the work that I create.

Metalsmithing has led me to combine non-traditional techniques with newer mediums for sculpture. While soft soldering is common amongst stained glass art and electrical work, rarely has it been utilized to create sculptures. This strain of art is highly experimental, with little textbook learning on the subject.
